Making Stuff: Sculpture Play Workshop with Chris Spollen
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This workshop will begin with a 10 minute presentation from Spollen about his work and process. Followed by a 20 minute brain storming session in which ideas will be skatched out, bantered about and pinned up. The sketches will act as a blue print for your creations. The materials you bring will help guide what you create during this event. During this sessions, you will be encouraged to provide feedback to one another. On completion, all art will be photographed with the artist who created it. Remember this workshop is about getting in touch with your inner child and the exuberances and joy that we all once felt when we were free to simply create and make things.
Materials Provided: hot glue gun
single edged razor blades
Materials Needed: pencils & paper to sketch on
Any materials you may want to create with such as recyclable materials (cans, bottles, etc) small metal object (nut, bolts) textured or colored paper, or anything interesting that might delight your eye
Adult: $25; Member: $20; Adult with child under 12: $35; Member with child under 12: $30. Workshop limited to 15.
Self-Expression and the Landscape: Interactive Artist Talk with Tim Butler
2 to 3 p.m.

Come meet and share ideas on painting and photographing the landscape with Clarks Summit-based painter and photographer Tim Butler. Tim will share and talk about his work- some of which is being displayed in Second Chances, an exhibit of landscape paintings on the 2nd floor of AFA in the month of March. Participants are invited to bring their own work. After the brief talk, they will have the opportunity for feedback as part of a group discussion on painting and photographing the local landscape with an emphasis on self-expression.
People in Environment: Reportage Drawing Workshop with Veronica Lawlor
3:15 to 6:15 p.m.
Draw and walk with reportage artist, Veronica Lawlor. This workshop will be an introduction to the art of drawing on location. This will be an on-site workshop at the Steamtown Mall. There will be group and one-on-one instruction.
Materials Needed: Sketch book and drawing utensils such as a fountain pen, markers, brush pen, dip pen and ink, crayons, colored pencils or pastels. No ball point pens.
Adult: $25; Member: $20; Workshop limited to 18. A minimum of 4 is required.
