BILL AND BILL AT ARTWORKS

B

Friday, June 1st, 2012, from 6-9PM was the opening reception for “William Teitsworth and William Tersteeg at ArtWorks,” ArtWorks Gallery & Studio, 503 Lackawanna Avenue, Scranton, PA. Teitsworth and Tersteeg are two artists who have been staples of the art scene in NEPA for many years.  Unofficially, this show is known as “The Not That Bill Show” since for a  long time these artists have been mistaken for one another… sometimes even by acquaintances, or former students who spent months in the company of one of the “Bills”!

Bill Teitsworth is a nationally-recognized watermedia artist, and a signature member of the American Watercolor Society with over thirty national awards and honors to his credit. Besides serving on the board of directors of the American Watercolor Society, he serves as a community arts coordinator for ArtWorks Gallery and Studio, where he was on the design team that created the concept and designed the ArtWorks site for Keystone Community Resources.

Serving as the Chair of the Art Department for Keystone College for many years, Bill Tersteeg’s solid national (and international!) reputation is built on his award- winning ceramic sculpture, which has been collected not only by innumerable private collectors, but also by museums such as the Everhart in Scranton and the Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY. Recently his work was included in the first statewide Pennsylvania Craft Inaugural Exhibition at the State Museum in Harrisburg, to celebrate Pennsylvania’s most outstanding craftsmen.
