Fiber Arts & Artists at the Butternut Gallery

The Butternut Gallery & Second Story Books is pleased to welcome six diverse practitioners for the Fiber Arts & Artists exhibit, on view August 18 through September 16, 2012, including Esther Cristol, Esther Welden, Karen Farmer, Beth Aten, Kris Laguna and Jean Kelly.   Everyone is invited to an opening reception for the artists on Saturday August 18 from 6 – 8 p.m.

Fiber can be used and manipulated in an amazing number of ways. The work in Fiber Arts & Artists, from the decorative to the practical, shows how these artists have mastered their unique methods to create beautiful objects for body and home. The exhibit includes the recycled sweater blankets of Esther Cristol; Esther Welden’s needle felted frogs; contemporary art quilts for the wall by Karen Farmer; Beth Aten’s hand dyed and painted fabric hangings; a selection of knitted, felted and embellished satchels and scarves by Jean Kelly; and the mixed media fabric paintings of Kris Laguna.

Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday 11 – 5, and Sunday 12 – 4.
