RiverFest is the signature event of the LRCA. A regional Rite of Spring
for 27 years!
On Saturday May 31, 2014, paddlers will take to the water and revelers will fill the banks of the Lackawanna River. A day of exercise and fun, RiverFest draws the community outdoors after the long winter to celebrate the valley and the river that runs through it. View the day’s events!!

RiverFest 2014 participation opportunities:
Sponsorship: Sponsorship is welcome from individuals to large corporations throughout the Lackawanna River Watershed, i.e. Friends of the Lackawanna to Lackawanna River Gold Sponsor;
Canoe-A-Thon: A timed run on the Lackawanna River from two Mid Valley launch sites (Archbald and Blakely) to the finish line at the Olive Street Bridge in Scranton, 2013 Race results;
Regatta: A free fun competition open to all with great imaginations. Create a vessel that will navigate the Lackawanna River from Sweeney’s Beach to the finish at the Olive Street Bridge. The “River Doge” invites one and all!!
Duck-A-Thon: The courageous LRCA flock of ten “duckies” will launch upstream of the Olive Street Bridge into the waters of the Lackawanna for an exciting race to the finish. Take a chance to be the Grand Prize winner!
Volunteer: This event requires many eager people to volunteer in many of the activities throughout the day from 8 AM to 6 PM. Review our RiverFest volunteer short list and the RiverFest volunteer detailed descriptions and Volunteer!!!!
