“APH•0•RISMS,” a group exhibition of ten area women artists opens on Saturday, February 23, 2013 with a reception from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Alliance Gallery, 37 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY.  The exhibition is curated by Alliance gallery director Rocky Pinciotti.  “I selected this group of works from recent artists submissions for the 2013 Alliance gallery season”, says Pinciotti. “occasionally as I look through the gallery entries, a common thread connecting artists and their work will sometimes appear. This year the common thread was women whose work made strong and artistic statements with a minimal and concise artistic vocabulary. Many works have a succinct, simple and stark beauty. The economy of form, brush strokes or imagery actually highlights the artists personal vision. I was struck by these artists critical eye as well as their spartan and fearless approach to their work and their monumental results.”

“Aphoristic creations are marked by the use of few words to convey much meaning or information”, Rocky continues, “the exhibition gathers of a variety of artists and a variety of mediums which exemplify this principle either overtly or subconsciously”. The ten artist in the exhibition include Phyllis Bilick, Miriam Hernandez, Ellen Kantro, Jessica Kinney, Hisako Kobayashi, Marjorie Morrow, Tiffanie Morrow, Lisa Strier, Ellen Wilkinson, Mary Grace Yanashot
