Everhart/Ballina Arts Center Exhibit

The Lackawanna County Department of Arts & Culture and the Everhart Museum are partnering on an international arts exchange with the the Ballina Arts Center (BAC)  in County Mayo, Ireland to create an exchange of student artwork that focuses on the concept of beauty, identity and portrait. The Everhart is currently seeking submissions from area K-12 students and selected artworks will first be displayedat the Everhart Museum in early 2012 and then travel to the Ballina Arts Centre to be displayed in an exhibit later in 2012 or early 2013. Intent to participate is due September 30 and the artworks are due on site at the Everhart Museum by November 30. This student art exhibit will take place in Gallery One from February 3 to April 1, 2012  The title is Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder, and is in conjunction with the Everhart Museum’s presentation of the exhibition, Posing Beauty in African American Culture that explores the representation of African and African-American beauty through photographic portraits by artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.
