Art Classes at New Visions Studio and Gallery

Darkroom Open-Use Hours & Prices: Tuesday and Wednesday 12p.m. to 6p.m., Thursday – Saturday 12p.m. to 9p.m., Sundays 12p.m. to 3p.m.  $14.99 for one day of unlimited access, $59.99 for one week of unlimited access , $139.99 for entire month of unlimited access.  ** Open darkroom use is for photographers who have learned the basics of b/w printing and processing and have experience printing on their own, without the need of an instructor. Chemicals included in price, paper/film are not included**

Classes -Ages 12+:

Intro To B&W Photo – the analog process.  Tuesdays, October 25 – November 15, 6-9pm The process of black & white photography is almost a lost art with current trend of digital photography taking over. This class teaches the basics of processing b/w film and making prints in the darkroom. This is a techniques class and does not include instruction on taking photographs. Student must bring camera to class.  *All chemicals & some paper included. Cost of film not included Taking Photographs and Intro to B/W Film Sundays, October 23 – November 6, 3-6pm This class will focus on taking photographs, learning about composition, metering for a proper exposure and basic operations of a SLR camera (SLR camera not require for class, but the basics will be instructed) Students will learn how to develop their own film and learn of film’s properties.

Figure Drawing for Adults Sunday, November 13, 2-5pm If you’re a skilled drawer or just looking to give it a shot, than come experience our open figure model drawing session. This is a one day class that will feature nude models in varying poses for anyone to come and practice

Anatomy of Drawing -Wednesdays, October 26 – November 16, 6:30-8:30pmDrawing skills are built by overcoming ones fear of drawing failure. This class will use figure models and still lifes to built confidence in the students abilities and build their creativity, contrast, and observation skills

Watercolor Painting Techniques -Wednesdays, October 26 – November 16, 7-8pm.  Watercolor is a perfect gateway into the world of painting. This class helps beginners and even advanced painters hone new skills and techniques in watercolor blending and practice, plus the production of two finished and fully detailed watercolor paintings.

Tapestry & Batiking for All Ages, Tuesdays, October 25 – November 15, 6:30-8pm.  Batiking is the process of using colored dye to create a fabric design or painting. This process will be used by the students to produce two separate batik projects; an abstract tapestry design and a custom designed personal flag.

Fun With Watercolor for Kids.  Sunday, October 23, 1-4pm.  Test your painting skills and learn new ones while your at it through observing fun objects, figures, and toy filled landscapes. Learn the skill of recreating what you see using watercolors.

Sculpture & Assemblage for Kids.  Sunday, November 6, 1-4pm.  Sculpture is more than just molding with clay. In this one-day class students will use small wood pieces to assemble their choice of three fun projects; an animal, a car, or a mask.

Basic Sculpture & 3D Art for Kids.  Saturdays, October 29 – November 19, 1-3pm If you cant draw or paint, why not try sculpture? In this class, students will complete three different sculpture projects using three different techniques. These techniques include mold making, scrap assemblage, and wire/fabric mixed media.

Drawing 101 for Kids & Young Adults.  Saturdays, October 29 – November 19, 3-5pm Ever wanted to improve your drawing without having to tediously practice the basic skill building techniques? This class will improve your drawing through observation by using of models, still lifes, and landscapes.

Intro to Art for Kids.  Saturdays, November 5 – 19, 3:30-5pm.  Sometimes an artist has to try a few different art mediums before they figure out what they excel at. This class teaches a different medium each class. Class one: Drawing. Class two: Painting. Class three: Clay.
