Lecture on Franz Kline

Robert S. Mattison, Phd, presents the “Coal and Steel” lecture sponsored by the Luzerne County Historical Society on the works of Franz Kline.  It will take place on Wednesday, March 23, at 6 PM at the Westmoreland Club, 59 South Franklin St. in Wilkes-Barre.

Kline was a seminal figure in the evolution of Abstract Expressionis, and was born on West River Street in Wilkes-Barre in 1910 and lived there until the age of nine   He is buried in Hollenback Cemetery in Wilkes-Barre.   Professor Mattison is the Marshall R. Metzger Professor of Art at Lafayette College.
