March 26, 2011 Art in Nature: Making Beeswax Candles, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Join artist Sally Robertson for an all-natural candle making workshop. Pure beeswax candles have a natural sweet fragrance, burn longer and are free of the harmful chemicals and toxins than found in most store-bought candles. Participants will learn several techniques including tapering and sand casting. Classes are $15 per person and all materials will be provided. Registration is limited and pre-payment is required. April 9 & 16, 2011 Art in Nature: Beginner Pottery Workshop, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Learn the simple construction techniques of pinch, coil, and slab and successfully create hand built sculptural ware with artist Ellen Jamiolkowski and Frank Goryl of Moscow Clayworks. During the second day of this 2-day workshop participants will learn how to make their pottery come alive with different types of surface design and glazing techniques as well as transfer methods. No experience is necessary. This 2-day class is $30 per person and all materials will be provided. Pre-payment is required. April 15, 2011 Art Opening: Feather Art, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Stop by to enjoy the opening of Feather Art, by local artist, Allen Crothamel. Allen paints wildlife and landscapes on the unusual medium of tail feathers from wild turkey and grouse! He has been selected for numerous awards in the art world, including the Eastman Kodak award for innovative art printing. Original work and prints will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be served. Allen’s work will be on display from April 15th to June 2nd. Admission is free.
